A new European Union-Singapore initiative has been launched to encourage top Singaporean scientists to join research teams funded by the European Research Council (ERC). The new scheme encourages high-calibre researchers supported by the National Research Foundation Singapore (NRF) to make research visits to Europe, where they will have the opportunity work in ERC-funded teams.
The initiative was signed by the European Commission's Director-General for Research and Innovation, Jean-Eric Paquet, and the Chief Executive Officer of the NRF, Professor Low Teck Seng, in the presence of ERC President Professor Jean-Pierre Bourguignon and Singapore’s Permanent Secretary for National Research and Development and Chairman of the Agency for Science, Technology and Research, Ms Chan Lai Fung.
