Executive Committee on Biomedical Sciences

Terms of Reference

The Biomedical Sciences (BMS) Executive Committee (Exco) will:

  • Identify the current gaps in Singapore's Intellectual Capital, Human Capital and Infrastructure Capital (collectively the 3 'C's) for translational and clinical research;
  • Establish the framework for developing and strengthening the 3 'C's to support the translation of discoveries at the "bench" into clinically useful and commercially viable applications at the "bedside";
  • Evaluate and allocate appropriate resources, including the new tranche of funding from NRF, for the respective agencies and Ministries to implement and realise the changes needed;
  • Oversee the implementation of multi-agency, inter-ministry initiatives and programmes to support and enable biomedical research spanning basic to translational and clinical research; and
  • Review the progress and outcomes of initiatives and programmes supported by the BMS Exco and institute changes where necessary to ensure that goals are met.
