The Global Young Scientist Summit@one-north 2014 (GYSS) gathered top scientists and bright young researchers in Singapore for a week (19-24 Jan 2014) to be inspired by internationally eminent science and technology leaders. This year's event was bigger and more exciting with 18 guest speakers, comprising 13 Nobel Laureates, 3 winners of the Fields Medal, a Millennium Technology prizewinner and special guest speaker Dr Irwin Jacobs, Founding Chairman and CEO Emeritus of Qualcomm.
The Summit discussed the latest advances in science and technology, and how research can be harnessed to address major global challenges. It is an annual multi-disciplinary event covering the disciplines of chemistry, physics, biology, mathematics, computer science and engineering. Participants interacted with top minds through plenary sessions, panel discussions, and small group sessions. Site visits to universities, research institutes, public agencies and/or industry immersed participants in Singapore’s R&D eco-system. Participants also enjoyed interesting opportunities to soak in the sights and sounds of multi-cultural Singapore.
